Overview

The UK Public Health Register provides professional registration for public health practitioners who demonstrate their knowledge and competence against defined professional standards. Trained assessors independently review practitioner portfolios, provide feedback to applicants and make assessment recommendations for consideration through the verification process.

My Role

Following completion of UKPHR assessor training, I became a practitioner assessor supporting the assessment of portfolios submitted for registration. My responsibilities include:

  • independently reviewing practitioner portfolios against UKPHR professional standards;

  • assessing evidence demonstrating practitioners’ knowledge and application in public health practice;

  • providing clear comments on assessment decisions in the assessment log, and written feedback where further evidence or clarification is required;

  • maintaining consistency, impartiality and professional judgement throughout the assessment process;

  • documenting assessment decisions to provide assurance for verification and moderation; and

  • making recommendations on whether submitted evidence meets the required standards for practitioner registration.
